How omequiz works, what it costs and how we keep it safe
omequiz is a multiplayer quiz game you play in your browser. One person creates a room and picks the categories, everyone else joins with a six-character code, and you answer the same questions at the same time. Points depend on whether you are right and how quickly you answer.
Yes, completely. You need a free account so your score and friends list persist, but there is nothing to pay for and no premium tier.
Between 1 and 10 per room. You can play solo to practise, open a public lobby, or keep the room private and share the code only with your friends.
Nine: general knowledge, science, history, sports, entertainment, geography, technology, art and Türkenquiz. Every question is written in both English and German, and you can pick up to three categories per round.
We run automated image checks on camera streams and uploads, every player can report another mid-game, and reports go to a moderation queue with warnings and bans behind it. Playing requires an account, so behaviour is tied to an identity rather than being anonymous. Our safety page explains the details.
No. omequiz is a game — you join a specific room to play a quiz, and video is an optional extra on top of that. There is no 'next stranger' button and no open-ended chat with people you were randomly paired with.
Over 200 hand-written questions across the nine categories, each in English and German, at three difficulty levels. On top of that there are the quizzes players write themselves, which is where most of the growth comes from.
Yes, at any point during a game. Both start switched off and only turn on when you turn them on.
Every account has a friend code. Share it, add each other, and you can then message, invite to private rooms and see when someone is in a lobby. You can also block someone, which stops them from contacting you or joining your rooms.
Yes. The quiz editor lets you write your own questions and answers, add images and publish the quiz so other players can find and play it. Published quizzes are reviewed before they appear publicly.
Any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone. There is nothing to install.
No. omequiz is a web app and runs in your phone's browser. You can add it to your home screen, but there is no App Store or Play Store download.
Correct answers score points, and answering faster scores more. Points add up to XP and levels across games, and the leaderboard on the home page shows the players with the most XP.
If you switch your camera on, the other players in your room see you while you answer. It is per-room and per-session, it never starts on its own, and you can switch it off mid-game. Background effects are available if you would rather not show your room.
No. Video and voice are optional extras — the quiz itself works entirely with text.
Report them with the button in the game — it takes one click and does not interrupt your round. Reports go to a moderation queue with the evidence attached, and moderators can warn, suspend or permanently ban an account. Serious cases are escalated automatically.
Private and public rooms, a friends list with direct messages, XP and levels, a global leaderboard, your own quiz editor with image support, optional voice and video, and background effects. Everything is free.
Join a public lobby from the home page, or write a quiz of your own and publish it. Playing earns XP and levels, and the leaderboard shows where you stand.
